Eligibility:

As a member club of USA Rugby, all players must meet the eligibility requirements set out by USA Rugby prior to participating in a league match or sanctioned competition. Detailed eligibility requirements can be found on the USA Rugby website.

Practices:

Our practices are held at Impett Park. All players are expected to attend all practices. Practices may be excused on a case-by-case basis. If you are unable to attend a practice (or will be running late), you should notify the team via group-me, text, or email as soon as possible.

Dues:

Dues for spring (00) and fall (00) 15s seasons are due prior to the first match of the season. Dues can be paid in cash to the Treasurer, or by using PayPal (paypal.me/clewomensrugby) or Venmo (@Cleveland-Rugby). If you are unable to pay the full amount prior to the first match, please talk to the club Treasurer to establish a payment plan for the season.

No dues are required for participation in Summer 7s. Players are only expected to chip in for their share of the tournament fees for the tournaments they choose to attend and participate in. Cost per player will vary depending on the tournament fee and number of players attending.

Additionally, all players are required to CIPP (liability insurance) prior to participating in league play. The cost of CIPP fees vary from year to year, and must be renewed every August.

Other Things:

Rugby can be an intimidating sport to begin playing. Coming out to a practice is a good way to get a feel for the sport and the team, and to talk to other players about their experiences playing rugby. Current players can also help you get an idea of what kind of cleats, mouthguards, and other rugby gear is worth buying if you’ve never played before.

Rugby is a physically demanding sport and you want to make sure your body is ready for it. While we do include some strength and conditioning in our practices, players are expected to workout on their own to make sure they are match-ready. Current players can give you some workout ideas and are often willing to meet up with you on off-days for a lift or a run. Another resource is ruckscience.com, which has a variety of free workout plans available online for various skill levels and positions.

Don’t forget to email us to be added to our active player list and join our private Facebook group (Saturday’s a Rugby Day) for team updates related to practices, games, and other events.
